Event Summary:

November 2018 Ice Storm

A significant ice storm arrived in the Hamilton County area in the overnight hours of November 14 and into the morning hours of November 15, causing roads to be hazardous and trees falling onto power lines throughout most of county. An Ice Storm Warning was issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) on November 15 at 01:24 hours for Hamilton County Ohio. The Ice Storm Warning was canceled by the NWS at 11:05 hours on November 15. The NWS is reporting 0.25” of ice accumulation in many areas of SW Ohio including Hamilton County. No Snow Emergency Levels were issued for Hamilton County. Fire crews were very active, responding to several downed wires and reports of sparking and burning power lines and trees. Power outages increased rapidly from approximately 28,000 outages at 0500 hrs. to over 61,000 by 1000 hrs. on November 15.
